Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has, on Thursday, added ever further to an already burgeoning silverware cabinet, it has been confirmed.

The latest prize bagged by the gifted English international? The Player of the Round for the Carabao Cup’s semi-finals.

On the back of a public vote, TAA beat out competition from Chelsea pair Hakim Ziyech and Antonio Rudiger, as well as teammate Diogo Jota, to emerge triumphant with a hefty 43.2% of the votes cast.

Alexander-Arnold proved key to Liverpool besting Arsenal to book their spot in the finale of the Carabao Cup late last month.

The full-back’s trademark defence-splitting pass set the aforementioned Jota through one-on-one with Aaron Ramsdale, with the Portuguese having made no mistake with his ensuing finish, putting Jurgen Klopp’s men two goals to the good at the Emirates, and sealing the Reds’ Wembley date with Chelsea.

Foxes test

Turning attentions back towards the Premier League, Liverpool will of course get their efforts to hunt down table-topping Manchester City back underway later this evening.

The Merseysiders are set to welcome struggling Leicester City to Anfield, no doubt confident in their chances of bagging all three points on the back of a quartet of successive victories across all competitions.

Liverpool’s hopes of as much could even be boosted by the return of attacking talisman Mohamed Salah, who, just days on from seeing his Africa Cup of Nations dreams come crashing down at the hands of Sadio Mane and Senegal, will no doubt be keen to take his frustrations out on an increasingly shaky Leicester backline.
