An insight into some of the leading candidates in the frame to replace Marcelo Bielsa at Premier League outfit Leeds United in the summer has been provided on Thursday.

The info comes courtesy of the reliable Mike McGrath of The Telegraph, who has delved into the subject of Leeds’ beloved boss potentially opting to bring a close to his spell in west Yorkshire come the end of the campaign.

This of course comes with Bielsa having remained staunch in his commitment to putting pen to paper on contracts with the Peacocks spanning no longer than twelve months.

In turn, should the Argentine decide not to renew his terms this time round, the board at Elland Road will be forced to reignite their managerial search.

And, at present, a trio of tacticians are understood to be on the shortlist to replace Bielsa.

The managers in question? Ernesto Valverde, Jesse Marsch and Carlos Corberan.

Significantly, however, it is assured that none have yet been contacted by Whites sporting director Victor Orta regarding their interest in taking up the reins at the club.

James at the double

Turning attentions back towards matters on the pitch at Leeds, the Yorkshire outfit were of course back in action just shy of 24 hours ago.

Kicking their Premier League campaign back into gear on the back of a near three-week break, Bielsa’s troops made the trip to Villa Park, for a showdown with Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa.

And, when all was said and done, the visitors, to their credit, managed to emerge with a hard-fought share of the spoils.

A pulsating 90 minutes of action ultimately culminated in a 3-3 stalemate at Villa Park, with Dan James (2) and Diego Llorente having proven the men on target for Leeds, who now sit six points clear of the relegation zone.
