Reports stemming from Spain have credited Real Madrid with an interest in Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney.

The Scottish international would join Arsenal from Celtic in 2019 and has since gone on to become an integral figure in their backline.

Now though, as per football.london citing Spanish outlet El Espanol, Tierney has attracted interest from Real Madrid.

It is not known how much Los Blancos would be willing to pay for Tierney, or if Arsenal would even entertain any offers, but Real’s reported interest does make sense given the age of Marcelo.

Arsenal should keep Tierney

However, if Arsenal do want to continue their rebuild under Mikel Arteta, they should do everything they can to keep hold of the Scotsman.

Finding a quality full-back can often be a struggle, but in Tierney, Arsenal have found one for potentially the next 6-8 years.

The 24-year-old is also a key part of what is a fairly young but very promising defensive base at Arsenal.

All of Tierney, Ben White, Gabriel, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Aaron Ramsdale are 24 or under and, if given the chance to develop together, should continue to develop into a very solid backline.

However, if Tierney were to leave, that would hand Arsenal a major gap to fill when they really need to be focusing on other areas of the pitch right now, such as central midfielder and centre-forward.

Of course, it may be hard for Tierney to turn down Spanish giants Real Madrid if they do come calling, especially if Arsenal do not get Champions League football for next season, but the Gunners should still do everything in their power not to sell the former Celtic man.
