An explanation for the absence of Jack Grealish from Manchester City’s matchday squad to take on Norwich City has been provided on Saturday evening.

And the news will no doubt be met with widespread derision on the part of the Sky Blues faithful.

As confirmed by the reliable Mike McGrath of The Telegraph, Grealish misses out at Carrow Road owing to an injury picked up in training this week.

Not only that, but it is suggested that the English international could remain sidelined for as long as a month, ahead of imminent medical tests to ascertain the extent of the damage:

Grealish, for his part, is far from the only high-profile member of Manchester City’s squad absent from the club’s latest starting XI, though.

This comes with Pep Guardiola having opted for his latest round of ‘Pep roulette’, dropping all of Kevin De Bruyne, Joao Cancelo and Aymeric Laporte to the bench.

Reintroduced to the visitors’ starting XI in East Anglia, on the other hand, are the trio of Kyle Walker, Ilkay Gundogan and Fernandinho:
