Newcastle United star Kieran Trippier has taken to social media on Monday evening, to send a message of thanks to the club’s fanbase.
For those not aware, Trippier was one of two Magpies defenders to have been forced to depart the action prematurely on Sunday, when Newcastle welcomed Aston Villa to St. James’ Park.
After Javier Manquillo made way late in the first-half, fellow full-back Trippier did likewise shortly after the interval.
Ensuing photos to have made their way online post-match, meanwhile, quickly set alarm bells ringing, after the English international was spotted on crutches, with his left foot wrapped in a protective boot:

In turn, it did not come as a huge surprise when the fears of the Newcastle faithful were confirmed earlier this afternoon, in the form of the announcement that Trippier is set for a spell on the sidelines, owing to a fractured bone in his foot.
And now, as alluded to above, the defender himself has provided his first reaction to news of his injury.
Taking to his official social media platforms, Trippier posted a message to the Magpies’ supporters, revealing his ‘frustration’ with the situation, before thanking all of those to have sent ‘kind messages of support’ his way:
It’s really frustrating to have picked up the injury yesterday. We’ve built some momentum and long may that continue. I will remain positive and work as hard as I can on my rehab to be back fit as quickly as possible. Thank you all for your very kind messages of support! ?? pic.twitter.com/FJ2LYyIynK

Trips on target
Despite being hauled off just minutes into the 2nd-half on Tyneside, it was of course Trippier’s 35th-minute free-kick (his 2nd in two games) which, when all was said and done, proved the difference in guiding Newcastle past Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.

Their latest triumph, a 3rd-straight for Eddie Howe’s rejuvenated troops, means that the Geordie giants have now climbed a full four points clear of the Premier League’s relegation zone, a scenario which appeared frankly unthinkable just weeks ago.
And next up this weekend comes a showdown with high-flying West Ham at the London Stadium.
