A fresh insight into the altogether bizarre situation which unfolded surrounding the jersey donned by Ferran Torres’ during Barcelona’s meeting with Napoli has been provided online.

Spanish international Torres of course saw his name take centre stage in the headlines on Thursday night.

Unfortunately for the January arrival in Catalunya, though, this came for largely negative reasons, with Torres having ultimately been responsible for Xavi Hernandez’s troops emerging from the clash with just a draw, owing to a host of squandered chances in front of goal.

This, however, proved far from the only reason that the former Manchester City star found himself front and centre in the post-match chatter.

In addition, Torres went somewhat viral online, after being spotted during the 2nd-half of action donning a Barcelona jersey without either a club crest, or Nike tick.

And now, Toni Juanmarti of Spanish outlet Diario Sport has revealed that the situation remains a ‘mystery’.

Torres is understood to have changed his jersey at half-time in the clash, not realising that his fresh choice was in fact ‘bad’.

In turn, both the attacker and Blaugrana officials were only made aware of the bizarre development post-match, with an explanation, as of yet, having not been forthcoming.

All to play for

Jersey drama and countless presentable chances fluffed in front of goal on Thursday aside, Torres did manage to find the all-important equaliser for Barcelona during the club’s meeting with Napoli.

The Serie A giants took the lead in the Camp Nou clash inside the half-hour mark, when Piotr Zielinski lashed home at the 2nd time of asking.

Torres, though, stepped up to dispatch a Blaugrana spot-kick early in the 2nd-half, to ensure that the most high-profile Europa League tie of the rounds remains on a knife-edge ahead of next week’s return leg in Naples.
