Reports stemming from Spain have linked Chelsea with an interest in Eder Militao.

Chelsea have a number of quality central defenders on their books right now. However, they stand to lose three of them this summer.

Thiago Silva, 37, would sign a one-year contract extension recently. But Chelsea are still yet to tie down Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta to new deals, with all three of those players currently set to leave the club for nothing at the end of this season.

And now all three are in the final six months of their contracts, they can sign pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs.

So, it is probably fair to assume that Chelsea will likely need to bring in at least one central defender in the summer transfer window.

And, as per football.london citing Spanish outlet Marca, Eder Militao could be one of those players.

They report that Chelsea have arranged a meeting with Real Madrid defender Eder Militao as they look to tempt him to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Militao is under contract at the Bernabeu until 2025 but Thomas Tuchel is said to be eager to bring the centre-back in.

Eder Militao’s Real Madrid stint

Eder Militao would sign for Real Madrid in the summer of 2019 for a fee reported to be £45m.

The Brazilian initially struggled to hold down a regular starting berth for Los Blancos, with Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane remaining their main centre-back duo.

However, the pair have now left the club for PSG and Manchester United, and Militao has done a solid job of helping replace them.

The 24-year-old has featured in all of Real Madrid’s La Liga games this seaosn barring one as they march towards another league title.
