Arsenal would see themselves linked with Inter Milan and Argentine hitman Lautaro Martinez recently.
Reports earlier this week claimed that Arsenal had added Lautaro Martinez to their shortlist of summer striker options, according to reports – as Mikel Arteta plots his new-look strike force with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah out of contract at the Emirates in the summer.
Now, Lionel Messi’s comments, who plays with Martinez for his country, on the striker have re-emerged.
And if Messi’s view is anything to go by, Arsenal would be getting a top, top forward if they land Martinez:
“He’s spectacular. He has impressive qualities. You could tell he was going to be a great player and he is showing that,” Mess said on Martinez.
“He’s very strong, really good one on one, scores a lot of goals and in the area he fights with anyone, holds it up, he can turn, scrap to win it all on his own. He has a lot of quality. He’s very complete.”
Martinez impressing with Inter
Lautaro Martinez has been plying his trade in Italy since the summer of 2018.
This comes after Inter Milan snapped the 24-year-old up from Argentinian outfit Racing Club for a fee believed to be around £22.5m.
And, despite having had zero experience in Europe before making the move to Inter, Martinez would take to the Italian top-flight like a duck to water.
The 2019/20 campaign saw the 23-year-old go from strength to strength under the guidance of Antonio Conte. In 35 league outings that season, Martinez netted 14 and assisted five.
Martinez then scored 17 and assisted 10 in 38 Serie A ties last term as Inter ended Juventus’ reign of dominance over the Italian top-flight.
And though he would lose strike partner Romelu Lukaku over the summer, Martinez has still been able to net 11 and assist two in 22 league ties this season so far.
