Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk etched his name into the history books of the Premier League on Wednesday, owing to the club’s win over Leeds United.
Dutchman van Dijk, as expected, was afforded a starting berth for the clash, and managed to round out the Anfield rout, popping up with a trademark header to put further gloss on a 6-0 final scoreline deep into injury time:

On the back of the action coming to a close on Merseyside on Wednesday, though, it is not the efforts of Liverpool’s star defender across his latest outing which have in fact taken centre stage across social media.
Instead, this has come in the form of van Dijk’s Reds stint as a whole.
This comes with the former Southampton man having now equalled the record for most home appearances in the Premier League with one club without tasting defeat.
Since arriving on Merseyside in January of 2018, the Dutch international is yet to fall to a single loss at Anfield, joining Manchester United legend Lee Sharpe as one of only two players to have managed such a feat:

Chelsea test
Turning attentions towards the road ahead, both van Dijk and Liverpool will of course be hopeful of emerging on the right side of a similarly one-sided scoreline this weekend.
This comes with the Reds set to head to Wembley for their first shot at adding to the club’s trophy cabinet in 2021/22.
A Carabao Cup showdown with Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea awaits, with the latest reports surrounding the club hinting at a boost on the personnel front, in the form of Diogo Jota’s likely availability in the capital.
Attacking partner in crime Roberto Firmino, though, looks set to miss out.
