Antonio Conte faced the media days after he suggested that the club should perhaps look to sack him as he registered his 4th defeat in five games.

‘I need to talk to the club’, the Italian said. ‘Tottenham have to make an assessment about the club, about me. I can’t accept to keep losing. I’m sorry.’

‘Here coaches change, but players are always the same… but results don’t change’, Conte told the media on Wednesday evening.

However, he stepped down from these comments ahead of Saturday’s clash with Leeds United, saying:

‘I repeat I want to help the club with every aspect.’

‘He [Daniel Levy] shows me great consideration every day and for this reason I’m committed for this club much more because I know the consideration for me is very high.’

Worrying update on Bentancur

But there was a somewhat worrying update on Rodrigo Bentancur, who was crucial to their win over Manchester City but was forced off at half time against Burnley after slipping on the soddon turf.

And it was initially thought that he could be out for up to three weeks, something that Conte refused to confirm, but the Italian did confirm that he would miss the clash with Leedds United.

‘Unfortunately he’s not available for tomorrow’s game’, the Italian told the press. ‘He had a problem in his ankle. I don’t think this is a serious problem. I hope to see him in the team very soon but for sure he’s not available tomorrow.’

Having only joined the club on deadline day, it comes as a bitter blow to Tottenham’s fast-diminishing hopes of snatching fourth place and bringing Champions League football back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs will also be without Oliver Skipp, who has missed the last month and will not be fit for the trip to Elland Road.
