Premier League giants Chelsea have been dealt a late blow on the injury front ahead of their upcoming showdown with Liverpool, it has been confirmed.

The player primed to miss out on the action at Wembley on Sunday? Andreas Christensen.

Danish international Christensen of course only returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines earlier this month, since reestablishing himself as a key member of Thomas Tuchel’s backline with impressive back-to-back displays versus Crystal Palace and Lille over the course of the last week.

As confirmed by the reliable Nizaar Kinsella of Goal this evening, though, the stopper has picked up a fresh issue this weekend, meaning Chelsea will be without their defensive stalwart for the club’s Carabao Cup finale meeting with Liverpool:

In a relief for the Blues, it is added that Christensen’s injury is not a serious one:

Jota to feature?

Whilst Chelsea are dealt a late blow ahead of tomorrow’s Wembley showpiece, Liverpool, on the other hand, look set to be afforded an imminent boost, in the form of the return of a key member of Jurgen Klopp’s frontline.

The player in question? Diogo Jota.

Portuguese international Jota has been forced to sit out Liverpool’s last two outings owing to an ankle problem picked up in the Reds’ Champions League downing of Inter Milan last week.

The latest word doing the rounds online late on Saturday, though, suggests that the former Wolves star is in line to return to matchday duties on Sunday, adding further to boss Klopp’s explosive attacking ranks.
