Jordan Henderson has made an interesting Liverpool claim ahead of the 2022 League Cup final.

Liverpool are set to face off with Chelsea at Wembley in the 2022 League Cup final later today.

Jurgen Klopp has never won the League Cup with Liverpool and has shown in the past that he cares very little for the English domestic cups.

Now, however, the German is no doubt keen to pick up the win this Sunday to further cement his legacy as an all-time great in the eyes of the Liverpool faithful.

The Merseysiders also head into the game in much better form than Chelsea, who continue to struggle for goals and are now very much out of the Premier League title race.

As for Chelsea, they have not won the League Cup for some time, but have quickly become accustomed to winning silverware under their new boss.

In fact, Chelsea are yet to lose a final under Tuchel, winning the Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup under his guidance.

Jordan Henderson’s Liverpool claim

Ahead of the final, Jordan Henderson has spoken to the Telegraph.

When doing so, Henderson made a bold claim, suggesting this Liverpool side is better than the one which won the Champions League in 2019:

“You always want to improve as a team. I feel as though we have done that and we are doing that,” Henderson stated.

When asked to elaborate on that, the midfielder continued:  “I just think if you look at the squad, there’s people missing out who are not even getting on the bench, top quality players.

“It makes it really hard for the manager to make decisions. People are coming on from the bench to make a big impact in games, to make a difference. That has been huge over the last few weeks. But overall we have just been together for a long time, for a lot of the squad anyway, and we have added to that with new signings. So we are in a really good moment.”
