Thomas Tuchel has spoken out on that horrific challenge that did not see Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita sent off despite looking to put in a very dangerous high foot on Trevoh Chalobah.
Chelsea and Liverpool faced off in a League Cup clash this past weekend.
The Blues would come up short, losing 11-10 on penalties. However, it is easy to see why some Chelsea fans may feel hard done by.
Romelu Lukaku had a goal ruled out for offside which really did not look it. Liverpool also could have easily been down to 10 men after this challenge from Keita:

Tuchel speaks out on Keita/Chalobah challenge
Now, Tuchel has spoken out about the aftermath of the challenge.
And, judging by the German’s comments, it was as painful as it looked on TV:
“I could not believe what I saw after the match,” Tuchel stated.
“There was surgery literally in our dressing room and I am not joking. They were stitching him up. I could not believe it. After the match, they were doing the stitches, I just heard him scream. It looked horrible.
“I could not believe he played one more minute with this kind of injury but he played the rest of the match and scored a penalty. I would say he has shown some balls but that would be the wrong line but he was really brave to do this. Full credit to him. “[It was] very close to his… You could not look away. It was open and it needed to be closed. We are working on it. He was very tough and he has my full respect.”
