The away support in attendance at Turf Moor for Chelsea’s meeting with Burnley on Saturday made use of the opportunity to voice public support for soon-to-be former owner Roman Abramovich.

The Blues are of course currently locked in action with Sean Dyche’s troops.

Ahead of kick-off in Lancashire, meanwhile, as will prove the case across the Premier League weekend as a whole, a show of support was forthcoming for Ukraine, amid the nation’s ongoing battle against a Russian invasion.

Fans of both clubs, in turn, took to their feet to carry out a lengthy round of applause.

As alluded to above, however, amid such solidarity efforts, bizarrely, large sections of the away crowd felt it the time to interrupt, courtesy of a chant in support of owner Roman Abramovich:

Abramovich out/Bayrak in?

The latest questionable actions on the part of the Chelsea faithful on Saturday of course come in response to the Champions League holders being put up for sale this week.

Amid a major backlash owing to his ties with Vladimir Putin, Roman Abramovich released a statement on Wednesday, confirming his intention to sell up at Stamford Bridge as soon as possible:

”I would like to address the speculation in media over the past few days in relation to my ownership of Chelsea FC. As I have stated before, I have always taken decisions with the Club’s best interest at heart. In the current situation, I have therefore taken the decision to sell the Club, as I believe this is in the best interest of the Club, the fans, the employees, as well as the Club’s sponsors and partners.”

And such confirmation was followed on Friday evening by news of an official proposal being tabled for Chelsea, on the part of Turkish businessman Muhsin Bayrak:
