The Newcastle revival marches on under Eddie Howe after the Magpies fought to a credible 2-1 win against Graham Potter’s tricky Brighton outfit at St. James’ Park earlier this afternoon.

Goals from Ryan Fraser and Fabian Schär (assisted by Fraser) in a tw0-minute quick-fire goal blitz were enough to secure all three points for the home side in front of an increasingly-confident Geordie fanbase along Tyneside despite a second-half surge from the Seagulls that cut the difference in half.

That result now sees Newcastle on five wins in their last six (5-1-0), but more importantly, currently on an eight-match undefeated run that dates back to 27 December; good enough for the longest active unbeaten run in the Premier League along with Manchester United.

Their run of form is night and day by comparison to the situation just before the Christmas period that saw Newcastle sitting on just one win in eighteen Premier League matches (1-7-10) and looked all but guaranteed to be unable to avoid the drop. Though still capable of going down mathematically, the club is certainly no longer looking over their shoulder.

Newcastle receiving individual recognition for hot run of form

The run of form that Newcastle is currently on cannot be discounted as a mere fluke, and neither can the influence of Eddie Howe and the performances of winger Ryan Fraser.

Howe may have started expectedly slow when he took the reigns from Steve Bruce, the former Bournemouth manager has led the Newcastle charge of late and has already endeared himself to the fanbase after presiding over their rich vein of form of late.

As for Fraser, he has been superb under his former manager, registering a goal and an assist in February on top of a cadre of influential displays for the club. The pair have now been nominated for Manager of the Month and Player of the Month respectively.

If this is evidence of what is capable of under Howe on Tyneside, many fans across the league may begin to wonder what is in store moving forward.
