An update on the wellbeing of Barcelona defender Jordi Alba has been provided late on Sunday evening.
For those not aware, Spanish international Alba appeared to pick up some form of injury late in the Blaugrana’s meeting with Elche a short time ago.
Amid the final minutes of action at the Estadio Martínez Valero, the veteran stopper began to clutch at his groin, setting alarm bells ringing on the touchline.
With Xavi Hernandez having already introduced all of his permitted substitutes, though, Alba was left with little choice but to grit his teeth and see out the game’s closing exchanges.
In the aftermath of another fine recent display on the part of their side’s first-choice left-back, those of a Blaugrana persuasion were therefore no doubt patiently awaiting an update on his wellbeing.
And, as alluded to above, as much has since been provided late on Sunday evening.
As per Javi Miguel of Spanish outlet Diario AS, supporters need not fret over Alba’s situation. This comes with immediate post-match medical tests having unveiled little more than a slight overload in the 32-year-old’s adductor.
He should, therefore, be fit and available to feature in Barcelona’s Europa League meting with Galatasaray during the week.

Memphis amongst the goals
Alba concern aside, it of course proved yet another positive afternoon’s work for Barca on Saturday.
Fresh off the back of an impressive 3-game winning streak featuring no fewer than 12 goals scored, the Catalans bagged their latest 3-point haul in Alicante, courtesy of a 2-1 triumph.
Ferran Torres and Memphis Depay proved the players on target, to guide Xavi and co. clear of Real Betis into 3rd in the La Liga table.
