An explanation for why Mason Mount got angry with Saul Niguez during Chelsea’s win over Burnley has been provided.

Chelsea faced off with Sean Dyche’s side at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon. The Blues headed into the clash as favourites and would eventually come away with a 4-0 victory.

The two sides headed in at the break with the score still at 0-0. However, Reece James opened the scoring two minutes after the restart before Kai Havertz put the game beyond Burnley with a quick-fire brace.

Christian Pulisic then wrapped up the scoring for the day 69 minutes in.

Why Mason Mount got angry with Saul

It was not all positive for Chelsea on the day, however, with Mason Mount letting his frustrations be known regarding Saul Niguez.

The Spaniard would come on for N’Golo Kante during the tie but did little to endear himself to the Chelsea faithful nor his teammates.

As explained by football.london, Mason Mount was angered by Saul Niguez’s failure to offer an overlapping run after the England international had drawn two Burnley defenders towards himself.

Of course, this is not the biggest issue for Chelsea who won the tie 4-0, but after impressing vs Luton in midweek, Saul’s stock in the eyes of the Chelsea faithful has once again dropped.

What’s next for Chelsea?

Chelsea are back in action in just a few days’ time, facing off with Norwich on Thursday the 10th of March.

Another Blues win on the day does seem likely, with the Canaries dead bottom of the PL with the second-worst defence in the division.
