Norwich loanee Brandon Williams recently spoke out in the aftermath of ‘that’ awkward moment with Brentford star Christian Eriksen during the Canaries 3-1 home loss against the Bees at Carrow Road last weekend.

The 21-year-old Manchester United left-back and the Danish star got into a tussle on the ground during the run of play after the pair both went down when vying for possession as Norwich looked to break on the attack.

While Williams’ instinct was to have a bit of a go at the player given the circumstances, once he realized it was Eriksen, his reaction changed immediately and instead gave the Dane a hug. He reflected on the event when speaking with Football Daily.

“It was a moment that just happens. It was just instincts. I got past him and I felt he pulled me down while we were on the attack and I was really angry. So…I was going to hold him but then I know what he’s been through, and it’s incredible what he’s done and he’s back now, and it was something special for him to be back now on the pitch for himself and to be involved in that. So I felt like he needed a hug.”

“It’s something that no player wants to go through. It was amazing that he is back. He’s a top-quality player, and I am sure he will get back to his best very soon.”

Eriksen back with Brentford

The return of Christian Eriksen to the top level of professional football is nothing short of magical after the Danish footballing icon so-nearly lost his life when his heart stopped during Denmark’s Euro2020 match against Finland during the summer.

Now, under countryman Thomas Frank, Eriksen has been given a new lease on life to continue his career before it was potentially cut short in the wake of former club Inter Milan breaking his contract due to rules in Serie A stating that players cannot feature with a heart device.

Thus far, Eriksen has completed nearly 130-minutes for the Bees in the Premier League since he signed on to terms with the London outfit and was put through his first 90-minute appearance in the 3-1 win against Norwich after he made a second-half substitute appearance off the bench against Newcastle the week prior when the Magpies ran out 2-0 winners at Brentford Community Stadium.

How Eriksen will respond for the remainder of the season is sure to be a talking point around the Premier League. Regardless of how he gets on, his story will forever be one of pure inspiration.
