Mikel Arteta would hold his latest pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon. Arsenal are set to face off with Leicester City in Sunday’s late kick-off. Ahead of the game, Arteta discussed a number of topics in his presser such as team news.
The two players Mikel Arteta discussed were Takehiro Tomiyasu and Emile Smith Rowe. The latter had Covid recently whilst Tomiyasu has had an ongoing fitness issue.
When speaking about the pair on Friday, Arteta stated: “Tomiyasu we are still assessing him. Taking some time to get him in the best possible way. Emile looks like he is going to be available.”
Arteta also confirmed they will speak with Alexandre Lacazette about his contract when the season is over: “We agreed is to do it in the summer. We are going to do it as soon as the season is finished.”
Arteta states again that talks with Lacazette over his future will not take place until the summer:
“We agreed is to do it in the summer. We are going to do it as soon as the season is finished.”

Arsenal vs Leicester City
Arsenal head into their meeting with Leicester City on a fine run of form that has seen them climb up to 4th in the Premier League table.
The Gunners are on 48 points ahead of the weekend’s action, with Manchester United, West Ham and Tottenham all within three points of Arteta’s men.
However, Arsenal do have at least two games in hand on all three of those sides. But with some tough games coming up, Arsenal’s advantage over their top-four rivals could easily disappear into nothing over the coming weeks, which is why it is imperative they see off Leicester this weekend.
The Foxes have looked a more solid outfit in recent weeks, but Brendan Rodgers’ side are still only 12th in the PL.
