An explanation for why Hakim Ziyech was spotted punching Romelu Lukaku during Chelsea’s win over Norwich has been provided.

The Blues would face off with Norwich City on Thursday evening, looking to pick up their fourth league win in a row and put some more distance between themselves and the top-four chasing sides.

And, when all was said and done at Carrow Road, this is exactly what Chelsea managed. Trevoh Chalobah, who had an excellent game, opened the scoring after just three minutes.

Mason Mount then added Chelsea’s second of the day after just 14 minutes. Chelsea’s performance would drop off in the second half and Teemu Pukki’s 69th-minute penalty looked to have provided a way back into the game for Chelsea.

However, a late Kai Havertz strike ensured Chelsea were taking all three points back to west London.

Why Ziyech punched Lukaku

During the game, as mentioned above, Hakim Ziyech was spotted punching Romelu Lukaku.

However, as explained by football.london, it was all taken in jest by the Belgian.

They report that, as the players took their places in the dugouts – two of which were Ziyech and Lukaku –  the former Everton striker attempted to follow Antonio Rudiger into his seat but was stopped by Hakim Ziyech.

Lukaku was able to hold off Ziyech, who with a smile on his face, reacted by throwing a few punches into the bicep of Lukaku. It is added that the forward burst into laughter before then settling into his seat.
