FC Barcelona have taken to the club’s social media platforms to aim something of a dig at Real Madrid wide-man Vinicius Jr, amid the showdown between the two clubs in the Spanish capital.

The latest edition of one of world football’s fiercest rivalries, in the form of El Clasico, is of course currently being contested.

Wide-man Vinicius, as expected, was afforded a starting berth for the clash, on the right of the hosts’ front-3.

Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez, in turn, opted to shake up his own backline in a bid to deal with the threat posed by Real’s explosive attacker, shifting Ronald Araujo to right-back in place of Dani Alves.

And, evidently, those of a Blaugrana persuasion feel as though such efforts on the part of the club’s head coach have since proven justified.

As alluded to above, in a post across their social media platforms a short time ago, Barca unveiled a thinly-veiled dig at Vinicius, insinuating that the Brazilian international has been ‘pocketed’ by Araujo:

Auba amongst the goals

Araujo’s impact to this point in proceedings, though, has not proven telling only on the defensive side of the ball.

This comes with the gifted Uruguayan having also rounded out what proved a scintillating first-half display on the part of visitors Barca by means of a 2nd goal for the Catalans.

First on target was Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who carried forth his stellar start to life in Blaugrana colours by nodding Ousmane Dembele’s delivery from the right flank beyond Thibaut Courtois and home:

And Araujo soon followed with a fine headed finish of his own, rising highest to put Barcelona two goals to the good, and ever closer to a potentially monumental Clasico triumph:
