Frank Lampard has provided a less than positive update on Andros Townsend after Everton’s FA Cup upset.
The Toffees would face off with Crystal Palace in a quarter-final clash on Sunday afternoon.
Given their awful form in the league, Everton were no doubt hopeful of a moral boosting win in the cup that would have seen the competing at Wembley.
In the end, though, the Merseysiders were torn apart by Palace, who put four past Jordan Pickford without reply.
As well as losing on the day, Everton suffered a big injury blow as Andros Townsend was taken off after less than 16 minutes.
And when speaking about the winger after the game, Lampard confirmed that the early signs indicate it is a bad knee injury: “Townsend looks back, it’s a knee injury, his studs got stuck in the grass.
“We’ll assess him over the coming days, the early signs are that it is a bad knee injury.”

West Ham vs Everton
Given Everton are in the midst of a relegation scrap, losing a key player such as Townsend for a prolonged period would be a big blow.
Everton’s next outing comes against West Ham on April 3rd.
The Toffees head into the game sat 17th in the PL, only three points above the relegation zone.
Granted, 18th-place Watford have currently played two more league games than Everton, but it is still not a position Everton want to be in so close to the end of the campaign.
