The Everton faithful have flooded to social media on Sunday afternoon, to single one particular area of the club’s squad out for widespread criticism.
Frank Lampard’s troops of course marked their return to action a short time ago.
Buoyed by a timely return to winning ways in the Premier League last time out, the Toffees made the trip to Selhurst Park, hopeful of booking their spot in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
Unfortunately for Lampard and co., however, when all was said and done in south London, it was Crystal Palace who kept their silverware hopes alive for the campaign, and in comprehensive fashion.
A dominant display on the part of the afternoon’s hosts ultimately culminated in a 4-0 final scoreline, owing to strikes on the part of all of Marc Guehi, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Wilfried Zaha and Will Hughes.

‘Absolute shambles’
Safe to say, those of an Everton persuasion hopeful of their side building some momentum on the back of a 1-0 downing of Newcastle last time out have, in turn, been brought firmly back down to earth.
It should therefore not come as a huge surprise to hear of such fans being up in arms across social media, livid with another frankly embarrassing display.
Despite essentially each and every member of Lampard’s ranks having struggled to make a positive impact on proceedings at Selhurst, though, it is one particular area of the club’s setup which, as alluded to above, has been singled out as not only the most pressing concern, but in fact ‘the worst’ in Everton’s history post-match:
Wow , probably the worst defence in our history… major revamp if we stay up ?

Great first 15 mins then absolute shambles after that. Worst defence we have ever had ??♂️

Another embarrassing performance but I didn’t expect anything less with: Coleman, Kenny, Keane, Holgate & Gomes all starting #Shite

Turned it off at 2 nil put the F1 build up on. There’s only so much of Holgate Coleman kenny & Keane I can watch in 1 week. Them 4 wouldn’t get in my lads under 10s team

Worst defence we’ve ever had. Poor poor performance and an absolute embarrassment for all the fans that got up at 4am to go and see that. Joke….
— Aaron (@Aaronp67) March 20, 2022
This everton defence is one of the worst I’ve seen. Reaction to danger incredible. Rest of the team must look back and think ?
— Matt Summers (@sumsybumsy) March 20, 2022
Kenny, Holgate and Keane wouldn’t get a spot in the 5 aside I play on a Sunday where I’m the youngest and the average age is 60.

Pickford,Coleman, Godfrey,Keane, Holgate, Kenny will go down as the worst defence in the history of EFC and im sure they will be proud of that…
Just play the kids now for the rest of the season as at least they will try & have a go.
Gray & Townsend showing their worth now Rafa— Pinkhammer (@Pj4d) March 20, 2022
You can’t defend the indefensible…. But like #Everton…… genuinely worst defence in the top 2 divisions…. Whatever happens in the summer we need a complete defensive overhaul…. Pickford & Godfrey aside, the rest need shipping out fast ??♂️
