Arsenal and Liverpool have been handed a boost in their potential pursuit of Eredevise star Coady Gakpo as his price tag has been set between 35 and 50 million euros.

The 22-year-old PSV Eindhoven winger has impressed those watching this season, grabbing 8 goals and 13 assists from the left flank in just 20 appearances in the Dutch top flight.

Arsenal and Liverpool target free to leave if offers over €35 million are made

Already capped 4 times by Louis Van Gaal and the Dutch national team, Gakpo’s future looks bright, and his form has seen him linked with a Premier League move, as well as Bayern Munich and Barcelona on the continent.

And, as per the generally reliable Athletic, Gakpo will be allowed to depart should bids between 35 million and 50 million euros be tabled by interested parties this summer, thanks to a gentleman’s agreement between the club and the player.

‘The Athletic has learned the contract does not have a release clause but an understanding was formed to ensure that if suitable offers land this summer, PSV will cooperate’, they report.

‘PSV are not known to have set an asking price but offers over £35 million have already been mentioned, pointing to the bracket in which he is viewed at present.’

Should Arsenal or Liverpool be interested?

Gakpo is a player who predominantly plays on the left-wing, but is capable of playing across the whole of the front line if necessary.

Liverpool are in the process of rebuilding their front line, with Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota already arriving to compete with Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino, all of whom are out of contract next summer. Adding Gakpo would allow them even more leverage in any potential contract talks.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are operating with a threadbare squad for the remainder of this season, and could do with adding another wide option to their ranks should they end up competing on multiple fronts next season.

While the price tag may be high, if they believe that he is the right man, both sides should be cementing their interest this summer.
