Premier League giants Arsenal have taken to social media on Monday evening, to provide a response to the international call-up afforded to on-loan defender William Saliba.

News of Saliba being honoured with his maiden inclusion in Didier Deschamps’ senior France panel was of course forthcoming earlier today.

On the back of the withdrawal of Bayern Munich star Benjamin Pavard through injury, Saliba, a regular at youth level for his country, was chosen as the man to step into Les Bleus’ defensive ranks.

And, as alluded to above, one source who were quick to send a message of congratulations to the young defender on the back of his call-up were none other than his parent club, Arsenal.

Taking to their social media platforms, the Gunners wished Saliba ‘all the best with France over the international break’, in a timely reminder to any who may have forgotten that the up-and-coming starlet remains firmly in the plans of those back in north London:

Marseille stint

Saliba’s impending senior international bow of course comes with the 20-year-old in the midst of another hugely impressive loan stint back in Ligue 1.

After lighting up the French top-flight during a temporary spell with OGC Nice over the 2nd half of last season, the gifted young defender was snapped up by Marseille this time round, and has since not looked back.

Establishing himself as an integral figure at the heart of the club’s backline, Saliba has been afforded starts in all but one of OM’s league fixtures, guiding the club to 2nd place in the Ligue 1 standings in the process.
