A fresh insight into the plans of those in a position of power at Manchester United when it comes to the situation on the club’s bench has been provided on Monday.
The info comes courtesy of Melissa Reddy, senior reporter at Sky Sports.
It is understood that, at present, a quartet of tacticians are being considered as potential instillations in the dugout at Old Trafford, ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
This 4-man shortlist comprises of Mauricio Pochettino, Erik ten Hag, Luis Enrique and Julen Lopetegui.
The former pair, as things stand, are viewed as the leading candidates for the post, amid something of a split amongst the Old Trafford brass when it comes to the tacticians’ respective credentials.

Enrique, meanwhile, remains something of a long shot, with the former Barcelona boss fully focused on leading Spain into the Qatar World Cup later this year.
Rangnick latest
Word of the fresh impetus on the appointment of a new manager on the red half of Manchester of course comes with Ralf Rangnick’s underwhelming stint on the bench inching ever closer to its imminent conclusion.
The German, installed on an interim basis late last year on the back of the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has since been primed to step into a consultancy role come the conclusion of the campaign.
Those hopeful of Rangnick being afforded a significant say in the club’s plans moving forward, however, look set to be left disappointed.
This comes with the ‘Godfather of gegenpressing’, as per Reddy, ‘not expected to be very hands-on’:
