The race to get into the Champions League is one of the most hotly-contested parts of the Premier League season.

Getting into the top four guarantees extra revenue but crucially ensures the highest standard of European football for the following season and allows clubs to attract the highest calibre of player possible.

With the title race often left to one or two teams to battle out, the race for the top four is usually far more open and here 101 Great Goals looks at odds for 2021/22 from the Premier League and which teams are favourites to get that last spot.

Arsenal strengthen top four grip

Arsenal bounced back from defeat at Liverpool and moved one step closer to a fourth placed finish courtesy of a 1-0 win over Aston Villa at Villa Park, where a first-half Bukayo Saka goal proved decisive.

The Gunners still have tricky fixtures to come, with trips to play Chelsea, West Ham and Tottenham away as well as a home tie with Manchester United to come in their final ten games, and surely leaving those in the chasing pack confident of catching Mikel Arteta’s side.

For now, however, they are firm favourites for the top four.

Changes in the chasing pack

A brilliant win for Tottenham on a weekend that Manchester United didn’t play has put the pressure firmly on the Red Devils after the international break. Antonio Conte’s side registered a 3-1 victory over West Ham, which saw them leapfrog Manchester United into 5th place and now sit 3 points behind Arsenal, although they have played a game more.

Manchester United, meanwhile, have seen their title-charge from the beginning of the season disintegrate into a sixth place spot at the time of writing, and the bookies have them at 9/2 to finish fourth come the end of the season, third favourites in a seemingly three-horse race.

Out of the running

Defeat to Spurs has likely proved the end of West Ham’s charge for a top 4 spot. Six points behind Arsenal having played two games more, Moyes’ side seemingly need a miracle to finish fourth, and as a result are priced at 40/1.

Another side in desperate need of a miracle are Wolves, who fell to a 3-2 defeat to Leeds United on Friday night. For Bruno Lage, however, it seems that the ship has sailed this season, with the bookies offering odds of a massive 200/1 for a fourth-placed finish.
