Arsenal defender Gabriel has withdrawn from the Brazil squad ahead of the international break.

Brazil are due to face off with Chile and Bolivia on the 24th and 30th of March and Gabriel was included in the squad.

However, the centre-back has, as per reports coming from Globo, asked to be released from the squad due to the impending birth of his child.

It is not known if this will impact the South American’s availability for Arsenal’s upcoming clash with Crystal Palace on April 4th.

Gabriel on his time at Arsenal

Elsewhere, Gabriel has been discussing his time in England to date.

The defender joined from Lille and has since become a key cog in Arsenal’s backline, forming a great partnership with Ben White this season.

He had the below to say on his time with Arsenal so far:

“The atmosphere in English football is wonderful,” the defender said. “When you take to the pitch, you always have butterflies in your stomach because you know that wherever you are about to play, the stadium will always be packed in England.

“You can see how different the Premier League is. I’m thrilled to be here and I hope to make the Gunners very happy.”

“After a year and a half here at Arsenal, everything is improving and going in the way that I’d dreamt it would.

“I hope to keep making the fans happy. I’m working hard every day and it’s really pleasing if the fans can recognise that and it makes me really happy if they are pleased with my games.

“We can all feel the fantastic support from our fans at Emirates Stadium in every game we play, and it’s a great feeling. I have to say that it also goes for when we play away too, with the way they get behind us. Our away supporters have really impressed me as well.”
