Social media has come alive on Saturday evening, to celebrate the comeback efforts of Christian Eriksen on the international stage.

Denmark were back in action a short time ago, making the trip to Amsterdam for a high-profile friendly showdown with Louis van Gaal’s Netherlands.

When all was said and done, unfortunately for the Danes, they were put to the sword by four goals to two, owing to strikes on the part of all of Steven Bergwijn (2), Memphis Depay and Nathan Ake.

As alluded to above, though, it is not the eventual result which has in fact taken centre stage on the back of the action being brought to a close in the Dutch capital.

Instead, this honour has been reserved for none other than Christian Eriksen.

Midfielder Eriksen marked his return to the Denmark setup this week, less than a year on from bringing the football world to a standstill after suffering a cardiac arrest during a meeting with Finland at the European Championships.

The now-Brentford star, in turn, was introduced to the fray at the midpoint in proceedings at the The Johan Cruyff Arena.

And, in scenes straight out of a fairytale, Eriksen took just two minutes to make a telling impact, finding the net courtesy of a trademark strike with his very first touch:

‘Incredible’

In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear of social media being awash with posts celebrating Eriksen’s dream return to the international stage, with just some of the highlights from across Twitter showcased below:
