An injury update on Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp has emerged this week.
The young midfielder has had a superb 2021/22 to date that saw him thrust straight into Spurs’ starting line-up at the beginning of this campaign by Nuno Espirito Santo.
Skipp has since continued to impress and prove himself a key player for the Lilywhites. Tottenham have lost just one of the last eight Premier League games that Skipp has featured in.
However, his current injury has since seen Skipp miss Tottenham’s last nine league ties, four of which they have lost.
This suggests Skipp is key to Spurs’ success and, as a result, Antonio Conte and co. will be keen to have him back as soon as possible.
But, according to football.london, Skipp may not be back until the middle of April: ‘football.london understands that Skipp’s problem is continuing to improve and the 21-year-old midfielder is working outdoors.
‘However, he is still doing so on his own with sports science staff rather than with his team-mates and there is an expectation that he could be around two weeks from a return to first team action in mid-April.’
Tottenham vs Newcastle
Tottenham’s next outing comes against Newcastle United on Sunday.
The game is a must-win for Spurs if they are to have any hope of securing a top-four place.
Conte’s side are currently 5th in the Premier League, three points behind 4th-place Arsenal who also have a game in hand.
Below Spurs, meanwhile, Manchester United are one point behind and West Ham three, meaning Tottenham could easily end this weekend down in 6th if they lose.
