A fresh report covering the future of Paul Pogba emerged on Tuesday.

In the report from the Manchester Evening News it is suggested that PSG are looking at a move for the Frenchman.

This of course comes with Pogba set to be out of contract in the summer and able to leave on a free.

However, though it seemed unlikely he would stay, there had been no official confirmation that Pogba was 100 per cent set to leave Old Trafford this summer.

Now though, as per the MEN: ‘Dressing room sources at United say Pogba is effectively ‘gone’ as he approaches the final two months of his contract and the club has been planning for his expected departure for most of the season. United intend to sign at least one midfielder in the summer.’

Why did Paul Pogba play vs Leicester City?

If these comments from the MEN are indeed true, then why was Paul Pogba starting for Manchester United vs Leicester City over the weekend?

With the only thing left to save a dismissal season for Manchester United the possibility of securing a top-four place, their game with Leicester on Saturday was a huge one.

United headed into the match 6th in the league, but with the race for 4th so tight between Arsenal, Spurs and United, it was crucial the Red Devils picked up a win against a Leicester side who had finally found some form in recent weeks.

So why then did Ralf Rangnick decide it would be a good idea to start a player who is both known for his lack of effort and now also seemingly ‘effectively gone’ from the club?

There may be some case for Pogba’s inclusion vs a hapless Norwich City later this month, but against a side such as Leicester, the decision to start a player who has already apparently decided to leave the club seems bizarre.
