Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has sent a message to his teammates regarding manager Antonio Conte.

Conte has used the Dane consistently since his arrival and would even single him out for praise after Spurs’ drubbing of Newcastle United this past weekend.

Now, Hojbjerg has moved to return the favour. When speaking recently the defensive midfielder labelled Conte a special coach and urged his teammates to now ‘go with the flow’ and see how far they can take it:

“Antonio is a special coach, with a special way of doing things, with a very high level of performing. There is always a time of adaptation, a time of understanding the sports side and also the personal side, and everything is coming together well,” he said.

“It’s important now to go with the flow and see how far we can take it, because the team is evolving very positively. That creates a platform where we can perform at a really very high level. We’re climbing the ladder, so it’s difficult to stop and look back down, we have to keep going and stay focused on the next challenge ahead.”

Tottenham on the up

Looking at Spurs’ recent results, it is easy to see why Hojbjerg is full of praise for his current boss.

In Tottenham’s last six Premier League outings they have beaten Leeds United 4-0, Everton 5-0, Brighton 2-0, West Ham 3-1 and Newcastle 5-1, with their 3-2 loss at the hands of Manchester United the only blip.

And after Arsenal’s loss to Crystal Palace on Monday, Tottenham are now in 4th place, level on points with the Gunners in 5th who have a game in hand.

Given all hope of a Champions League spot had seemingly died out a few months ago, Conte and co. have completed a remarkable turnaround.
