Thomas Tuchel spoke to the press on Friday afternoon ahead of Chelsea’s match with Southampton.

The Blues travel to St Mary’s for a Premier League clash with the Saints at 3 pm on Saturday.

Ahead of the game, Tuchel spoke to the press on Friday afternoon and provided a team news update, confirming that both Romelu Lukaku and Hakim Ziyech are doubts for this weekend: “No I don’t, I hope not. Callum is still out and we are a bit of a doubt with Romelu [Lukaku] and Hakim [Ziyech]. There will be a test at 3pm to decide whether they’re involved.”

Tuchel was also quizzed on his side’s poor form, which most recently includes a  3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League earlier this week: “We are aware of it and we don’t like it. I don’t know if we are concerned but we looked at it, talked about it and how we can improve.”

Southampton vs Chelsea

Whilst Chelsea do not have much left to play for in the Premier League, they need to ensure they do not drop out of the top-four right at the end of the campaign.

The west Londoners are currently 3rd in the Premier League, but are only five points clear of both Tottenham and Arsenal.

As a result, should Chelsea take their foot off the gas domestically, it would not be too surprising to see both north London outfits catch the Blues up in the coming weeks.

As for Southampton, they are languishing in midtable with little left to play for this term.
