A major concern on the personnel front has been confirmed at Premier League giants Arsenal on Thursday afternoon.

The player to have left Mikel Arteta and co. sweating ahead of the weekend’s upcoming slate of fixtures in the English top-flight? Alexandre Lacazette.

As confirmed by a number of sources to have been in attendance at the Gunners’ London Colney training base today, hitman Lacazette was not amongst the group of first-team stars put through their paces by boss Arteta and the club’s coaching staff.

Word of Lacazette’s fresh absence comes after similar reports spread on Wednesday, confirming that both the Frenchman, and long-time defensive absentee Takehiro Tomiyasu, were too nowhere to be seen at London Colney:

Lacazette missing training on consecutive days would of course appear to hint at an injury concern for the hitman, ahead of the club’s return to action on Saturday afternoon.

A trip to St. Mary’s to take on Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton lies in store, with Arsenal, of course, primed to head into proceedings eyeing a much-needed return to winning ways.

A shock 2-1 defeat at home to Brighton & Hove Albion last time out extended a concerning dip in form on the part of the Gunners, after they were too put to the sword by capital rivals Crystal Palace in the club’s prior outing.

The north London giants, in turn, have seem themselves firmly overtaken by rivals Tottenham in the race for the Premier League’s final top-four berth, sitting three points adrift of Antonio Conte and co, albeit whilst in possession of a game in hand.
