Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has been full of praise for Heung-min Son in a recent interview.

The South Korean has been in sensational form of late and is a key reason why Spurs have gone from Europa League obscurity to being on the brink of clinching a Champions League place for the first time since Mauricio Pochettino’s reign.

In the Lilywhites’ last seven league games, Son has scored eight goals, including a hat-trick vs Aston Villa last weekend.

This has prompted Conte to claim that Son is ‘at the peak of his form’:

“We are talking about a really good player. I was sure that it was normal after an injury to need a bit of time to recover the best possible condition and get back again into our idea of football again. But I was sure, because Sonny for us is a really important player and at the peak of his form,” explained the Italian.

“But he can improve, and that is my expectation – that he gives us from now until the end of the season and big push and to try to finish his race in the best possible way. Don’t forget, one month ago I asked my best players, my more representative players, that now the team needed this type of player to take on the more important responsibilities. That role is also important for this.”

Tottenham vs Brighton

Tottenham’s next outing sees them face off with Brighton in Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off.

The north Londoners head into the game needing to win to ensure they do not end up level on points with Arsenal, who play Southampton later in the day.

And whilst Brighton are a decent side, the Seagulls have nothing left to play for this season.
