Everton boss Frank Lampard has provided an update on the wellbeing of his squad, ahead of the club’s upcoming meeting with Chelsea.

And the news, for the most part, has proven of a positive nature.

First off, Lampard confirmed that star hitman Dominic Calvert-Lewin set to be available for selection, after returning to training with the rest of the club’s squad in midweek:

“Dominic (Calvert-Lewin) is back in the squad; he’s been training the last couple of days.”

Not only that, but stopper Yerry Mina will likely be included from the off, too, after sitting out at Anfield last time out:

“Yerry (Mina) is back in the squad. It was more being careful with him because he’d been out for a while and played the previous game.”

Three other members of Lampard’s ranks primed to miss out on Sunday, however, come in the form of Ben Godfrey, Donny van de Beek and Andre Gomes:

“We would love to get him (Godfrey) back towards the end of the season, but it will be a close call,” the Toffees boss added. “Donny (van de Beek) is out; he’s not fit, nor is Andre Gomes.”

Pensioners test

Everton will of course welcome Chelsea to Goodison Park in just shy of 48 hours’ time in the knowledge that securing some form of return could prove absolutely crucial when it comes to the club’s survival hopes.

As things stand, the Merseysiders occupy the English top-flight’s final relegation berth, sitting 18th, two points adrift of Burnley above them.

With the Clarets set to take on Championship-bound Watford tomorrow afternoon, though, Everton could find themselves a full five points from safety by the time their meeting with Chelsea rolls around, making a positive result a potential must up against the reigning European champions.
