Barcelona director Mateu Alemany was this evening drawn on the futures of a pair of members of Xavi Hernandez’s squad, as well as the latest on the club’s efforts to bring in a new striker ahead of next season.

First up came the former, amid ongoing contract negotiations with both Gavi and Ousmane Dembele.

The latter’s current terms in particular have taken centre stage in the media of late, ahead of Dembele becoming a free agent in just shy of a month’s time.

Alemany, though, has confirmed that those in a position of power at the Camp Nou remain hopeful of both the club’s explosive wide-man, and midfield starlet Gavi, ultimately opting to stay put:

Next up came a fresh insight into Barcelona’s alleged pursuit of Robert Lewandowski.

Speculation has of course begun to ramp up of late that the transfer team in Catalunya have set their sights firmly on prolific Bayern Munich frontman Lewandowski ahead of the summer, with first-choice target Erling Haaland primed to link up with Manchester City.

Alemany, though, was keen to keep his cards close to his chest when it comes to a potential deal for ‘Lewa’, rejecting claims of a meeting having already taken place with the Pole’s agent:

Depay on target

The latest comments provided by Barca’s board member of course come with Xavi’s troops currently locked in action in Catalunya.

On the back of three defeats from their last four across all competitions, the Blaugrana have welcomed RCD Mallorca to the Camp Nou, eyeing a much-needed return to winning ways.

And, as things stand, all three points is precisely what the evening’s hosts appear to be headed towards, in possession of a 1-0 lead owing to a fine finish on the part of Memphis Depay inside the half-hour mark.
