Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has, on Thursday, provided an update on the fitness of star midfielder Fabinho.

Brazilian international Fabinho of course set alarm bells ringing on the red half of Merseyside earlier this week, after limping out of Liverpool’s Premier League win over Aston Villa.

After pulling up with what appeared to be a hamstring issue, concerns, in turn, quickly spread that the former AS Monaco man may miss not only this weekend’s FA Cup final, but the remainder of the campaign as a whole.

Such an absence, for obvious reasons, would deal a serious blow to Liverpool’s remaining hopes of an unprecedented quadruple.

Jurgen Klopp reveals Fabinho’s status for Chelsea & Real Madrid fixtures

Speaking to the media on Thursday evening, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his midfield enforcer’s wellbeing was put to Jurgen Klopp.

And the German went on to reveal that, though Fabinho has, as expected, been ruled out of the Reds’ meeting with Chelsea on Saturday, he could yet return to fitness in time to feature against Real Madrid in the Champions League showpiece later this month:

“There’s a good chance that he will be available for the Champions League final.”

‘Not a problem’

From here, Klopp also went on to provide an insight into the likeliest replacement for Fabinho in his squad, hinting that Jordan Henderson is in line to fill in in a deeper midfield role over the coming couple of weeks:

“We have to. Because we can cope. Having him or not having him is a difference but it is all fine. That’s normal stuff that happens. It’s never in a position where you have 12 options, it’s always in a position where you [don’t]. We have a few players. Hendo (Jordan Henderson) came on and played incredible, he has played super games this season at 6 so that is not a problem.”
