Carlo Ancelotti has revealed how his Real Madrid side will set up vs Liverpool for the 2022 Champions League final.

Madrid and Liverpool are set to clash for Europe’s most coveted club prize on the 28th of May in Paris.

The tie sees two of Europe’s most successful clubs going head-to-head, with Real having clinched a record-breaking 13 Champions Leagues/European Cups and Liverpool the third most alongside Bayern Munich with six.

This year’s final is also a repeat of 2018, where Liverpool lost Mohamed Salah to injury early on before a Gareth Bale masterclass saw Madrid come away with a comfortable 3-1 win.

Unlike in 2018, though, a case could be made that Liverpool are actually the favourites for this final.

Granted, Madrid do have some simply world-class talent who, as shown vs PSG, Chelsea and Manchester City this term, can win games for Los Blancos almost single handily.

However, as a team, Liverpool are one of, if not the best side in the world right now, making the meeting between the pair next month very hard to predict.

Ahead of the game, though, Carlo Ancelotti has been explaining how his side will set up whilst also confirming two of the eleven:

“4-3-3. Sometimes it could end up as a 4-4-2. I don’t think there is a defined system, sometimes in order to press the pivot, as we did against City, you go from 4-3-3 to 4-4-1-1.”

“The idea doesn’t change much, just the manner of defending the opponent a little.”

“Both are going to play the final, it’s true.”
