Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe unsurprisingly took centre stage on Saturday, as Paris Saint-Germain romped to their latest three-point haul.

Mauricio Pochettino’s troops marked their return to action a short time ago, making the trip to The Stade de la Mosson for a meeting with Montpellier.

And, despite having long wrapped up the Ligue 1 title, the evening’s visitors showcased little mercy en route to an eventual 4-0 triumph.

The aforementioned Messi stole the headlines early on, bagging a brace including the following trademark finish from Kylian Mbappe’s sumptuous assist:

Angel Di Maria, standing in for the suspended Neymar, was next on target, before Mbappe turned goalscorer to round out the scoring on the hour mark, slotting home from the penalty spot in typically confident fashion.

‘Selfish’

Despite his brace on the night amid a comfortable 90 minutes all round for PSG, though, many of the Lionel Messi fan club were nevertheless quick to express their frustrations post-match.

This came owing to the actions of the 7-time Ballon d’Or winner’s attacking partner in crime.

With Messi just a goal off a first-ever Ligue 1 hat-trick amid a disappointing debut season in Paris, the Argentine’s supporters were left livid upon Mbappe, and not Messi, stepping up to take responsibility from the penalty spot in the 2nd-half.
