Word stemming from the Italian media on Thursday points towards Jose Mourinho eyeing a reunion with a former member of his Manchester United ranks at AS Roma this summer.

The player in question? Jesse Lingard.

Midfielder Lingard, of course, is now available as a free agent.

This comes after long-time club Man United released an official statement on Wednesday, confirming their decision not to renew Lingard’s terms ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

A whole host of clubs, in turn, are expected to express a keen interest in the signature of the English international, who just twelve months ago was coming off some of the finest form of his career owing to a loan stint with West Ham United.

And, as alluded to above, on Thursday, a fresh name has been added to the list of Lingard’s alleged suitors.

As per a report from Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, AS Roma are considering tabling a contract offer to the 29-year-old over the coming weeks.

This comes with Lingard’s agent understood to have proposed his client to the Giallorossi, with the pair eyeing a new experience away from the Premier League.

Should any such move come to fruition, it would of course see the attack-minded midfielder reunited with ex-boss Jose Mourinho, under whom he lined out for two+ seasons at Old Trafford.

Not only that, but Lingard would too join former Red Devils teammate Chris Smalling, and fellow countryman Tammy Abraham in the Italian capital.
