Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois has taken to social media on Thursday, to send a personal message to incoming teammate Antonio Rudiger.

The name of German international Rudiger, of course, has taken its place centre stage in the headlines across the day to date.

This comes owing to the gifted defender’s long-awaited Bernabeu switch finally being confirmed.

On the back of months of speculation, Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid unveiled an official statement, confirming that Rudiger has put pen to paper on terms with the club through the summer of 2026, on the back of the expiration of his contract with Chelsea.

‘Antonio Rüdiger (Berlin, 03/03/1993) is now a Real Madrid player. We have strengthened our squad by signing one of the best defenders in world football after the German international has joined the club from Chelsea,’ Los Blancos announced.

‘Welcome bro’

Rudiger’s arrival in Madrid comes fresh off the German being named in the Champions League’s Team of the Season, with another of those to have been honoured with a spot in the XI, on Thursday, having sent a social media message the way of the 29-year-old.

The player in question? Thibaut Courtois.

In a post on his official Twitter account, shot-stopper Courtois sent a simple welcome to Madrid to Rudiger, alongside a photo of the pair celebrating together.

This of course comes after Courtois and Rudiger enjoyed a productive partnership on the pitch during the 2017/18 campaign, en route to glory in the FA Cup under the watch of Antonio Conte.

The now-Real Madrid pair, of course, will be hopeful of recreating such successes for many years to come, albeit this time in the white of the champions of Europe.
