The remarkable start to the summer being enjoyed by Premier League outfit Aston Villa on the transfer front has continued on Friday.

The Claret and Blue, of course, have taken their place front and centre in the headlines for several weeks now.

This comes with those in a position of power at Villa Park having evidently come to the conclusion that the club’s 14th place finish in the Premier League this past season proved some way off expectations.

In turn, a major recruitment drive has been kicked into gear, to reinforce Steven Gerrard’s ranks ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

To this point, despite the summer window not technically swinging open until next month, the Villans have closed deals for all of Philippe Coutinho, Boubacar Kamara and the highly sought after Diego Carlos.

As alluded to above, though, Gerrard and co. appear far from ready to rest on their laurels.

This comes with Villa on the verge of closing a deal for the club’s 4th summer signing, in the form of Robin Olsen.

Swedish international Olsen made the move to Villa Park during the January transfer window, cutting short another temporary spell with Sheffield United to link up with Steven Gerrard’s squad.

And, despite being afforded just a solitary appearance across his time in Birmingham, en route to a 3-2 final day defeat at the hands of Manchester City, the experienced shot-stopper is primed to link up with the Claret and Blue on a permanent basis over the coming weeks.

As per a report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, an agreement has been agreed between Villa and their counterparts at AS Roma, for a fee in the region of €3.5 million.

Olsen, in turn, will soon become a permanent fixture in the ranks of the former, acting as backup to first-choice goalkeeper Emi Martinez.
