Hwang Ui-jo actually made it 1-1 on the half hour mark, only for the visitors to score four times, leaving Seoul 5-1 winners.
Despite the scoreline, there were plenty of positives for Paulo Bento’s side as they prepare for equally tough tests to come at the World Cup.
Coming up this week, the Taegeuk Warriors will face Paraguay and then Egypt in much more winnable friendlies.
Before then, will Korea Republic give the home crowd in Daejeon something to celebrate?
Chile meanwhile have failed to qualify for back-to-back World Cups, despite winning Copa América in 2015 and 2016 just before this slump.
