Arsenal have released the list of players out of contract with the club at the end of June.

In a statement put out on their official website, Arsenal wrote: “With the Premier League due to announce the 2021/22 Retained and Free Transfer Lists for member clubs at 3pm (UK time) on Friday June 10, our thanks and best wishes go to the following players across our teams whose current contracts with us will have officially ended by June 30 2022 (May 31 2022 for Women’s First Team).”

“Men’s and Women’s first team squads: Lisa Evans, Tobin Heath, Alex Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah (contract offered, ongoing discussions), Viktoria Schnaderbeck, Lydia Williams (ongoing discussions)”

None of the above names being included is too much of a shock, though Arsenal fans may have been slightly surprised to hear Eddie Nketiah was on the list.

However, as confirmed by Arsenal, Nketiah has been offered a new deal and discussions are ongoing.

Should Nketiah sign a new contract, he is expected to be Arsenal’s back-up striker behind whoever the Gunners sign this summer.

The Englishman struggled for regular minutes right until the end of 2021/22, but went on to net five goals in his last seven league appearances for the north Londoners.

And with Arsenal in the Europa League next term, it is expected that Nketiah will see a lot more action across the 2022/23 season should he stay put.
