Chelsea will meet with two of their senior defenders to discuss their futures at Stamford Bridge, as per reports coming from Spain.

Chelsea have already lost two key defenders this month, with Antonio Rudiger joining Real Madrid and Andreas Christensen close to signing for FC Barcelona.

So, it is easy to see why Chelsea may be eager to find out what the rest of their squad are planning for the future so they can avoid a repeat of the Rudiger/Christensen situation next summer.

And according to Marca, Chelsea are set to meet with Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso ‘in the next few hours’ to discuss their futures at Stamford Bridge.

The Spanish outlet adds that Barcelona are ‘very attentive’ to the situation and hope they will be allowed to depart for the Camp Nou. However, Barcelona’s finances aren’t the best at this moment in time, and signing Azpilicueta and Alonso is heavily dependent on the Blues doing them a favour.

Will Chelsea let Alonso & Azpilicueta go?

Both players departing Stamford Bridge this summer seems very, very unlikely.

Alonso has fallen heavily out of favour under Thomas Tuchel, remaining something of a rotation option in the second half of last season despite the injury to Ben Chilwell. So, the Blues letting Alonso leave the club would make some sense.

However, with Chelsea already down to the bare bones at centre-back, it would be pretty strange if the west Londoners decided to let go of Azpilicueta who brings a wealth of experience and is also one of just two senior right-backs on their books at present.
