An insight into how Ryan Sessegnon is preparing for the 2022/23 campaign has been provided on Sunday.

Sessegnon would be signed by Tottenham in August of 2019 for around £24m.

At the time the youngster was one of the hottest prospects in English football and was expected to have a bright future in north London.

However, that proved to be far from the case as Sessegnon struggled for action under Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho before being loaned to German outfit Hoffenheim for the 2020/21 campaign.

The Englishman went on to feature 29 times for the Bundesliga side, scoring two and assisting three along the way.

Sessegnon would then return to Tottenham last summer, but once again found himself out of favour under Nuno Espirito Santo – though this was partly due to injury as well.

Conte would, however, take over in November and has since handed Sessegnon a new lease of life at Tottenham

Sessegnon ended 2021/22 with 15 Premier League appearances under his belt and as Spurs’ main left-wing-back.

However, Sessegnon did also suffer a couple of muscle injuries during the previous campaign which limited his minutes slightly.

Now though, it has been reported by football.london that Sessegnon has been putting himself through rigorous muscle-strengthening workouts to ensure he is ready for the gruelling pre-season to come under Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte.

It is added that Sessegnon did not link up with England’s Young Lions for the current international break. Instead the decision was made for Sessegnon to rest his body with a holiday but after some recovery time he has now pushed on with preparatory work to ensure his muscles, and those hamstring areas in particular, are ready for the gruelling demands of a Conte pre-season.
