Middlesbrough defender Djed Spence ‘favours’ a move to Tottenham as Nottingham Forest’s hopes of keeping the English right-back continues to diminish, according to The Athletic.

The 21-year-old spent the season on loan at Forest from Middlesbrough, racking up 42 Championship appearances, along with a further 3 playoff outings.

In that time, he racked up 2 goals and 5 assists for Steve Cooper’s side, and has caught the eye of plenty of sides including Antonio Conte’s Tottenham, who are looking to strengthen in the wing-back areas, with Emerson Royal seemingly likely to move on just 12 months after joining the club.

And Spurs have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of the Englishman, as it has emerged that he favours a move to north London over a return to the City ground, leaving just a fee to be agreed.

‘Spence is believed to favour Spurs over the other interested parties and they are in talks with Boro, although no agreement has been reached’, claims the reliable David Ornstein.

Spence to follow Bissouma?

Should Djed Spence join the Lilywhites, he would likely follow Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma, with a surprise £25m deal having been agreed with the Seagulls for the Mali international, who has just twelve months left on his contract at the Amex Stadium.

It would continue what is shaping up to be a very impressive summer of recruitment under Antonio Conte, as they look to challenge for trophies next season.
