Tottenham boss Antonio Conte could be on the verge of adding necessarily quality in the heart of the defense for Spurs this summer as the north London outfit is said to be in talks over a loan deal for French center-back Clément Lenglet.

As reported by ESPN duo Samuel Marsden as well as Moisés Llorens, Conte could be set for a meeting with the Frenchman over a loan move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after the 27-year-old is said to be open to the possibility of departing the club this summer.

Barcelona is reportedly hopeful of securing a full transfer of Lenglet but is open to letting the Frenchman go on loan, which would provide Conte with a much-needed upgrade at center-back with just Cristian Romero the only consistent option in the heart of the defense despite the likes of Davinson Sánchez, Japhet Tanganga, and Eric Dier all seeing time there last season.

Tottenham has already reinforced multiple areas of the pitch this summer after securing a deal for Fraser Forster to deputize behind Hugo Lloris, while Croatian star Ivan Perišić and highly-coveted Malian midfielder Yves Bissouma also walking in the door at Spurs, with Conte’s men aiming to keep ahead of a retooling Arsenal under Mikel Arteta this summer who are intent on climbing up the table and re-establishing the status quo in the nation’s capital.
