A fresh insight into the ongoing saga surrounding the future of Bayern Munich star and Barcelona target Robert Lewandowski has been provided on Sunday.

Links between Polish international Lewandowski and Barca have of course been rampant for several weeks now.

This comes with the 33-year-old having made public his desire to seek pastures new this summer, on the back of a prolific stint in Germany with Bayern Munich.

The Camp Nou, in turn, has long been tipped as Lewandowski’s landing spot of choice, with Barca’s mutual interest in securing a deal meaning a transfer is viewed as altogether likely to come to fruition.

And yet, as the weeks continue to pass, little word has been forthcoming when it comes to positive steps forward in the Blaugrana’s pursuit.

In turn, a fresh insight into the situation has, on Sunday, been provided.

The info comes courtesy of reliable German reporter Florian Plettenburg, who has revealed that, despite his age and contract status (due to expire in 12 months’ time), Bayern Munich are continuing to demand a hefty €60 million for Lewandowski.

And herein lies the problem, with Barca, to this point, having showcased little willingness to part with such a sum.

Nevertheless, it is added that a transfer coming to fruition before the summer is out is considered ‘more likely than a few weeks ago’, with the transfer team at the Camp Nou ready to improve on the club’s opening bid.
